Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion (AVD) is an advanced fire suppression agent designed specifically to combat the growing threat of lithium-ion battery fires. These fires can occur due to overheating, internal failure, or physical damage to the battery, often resulting in thermal runaway—a chain reaction that leads to intense heat and ignition. AVD is applied as a fine mist, using both fixed and portable systems.
